Are you tired of playing church? Do you yearn for what the early Christians experienced? Too many disillusioned disciples have settled into simply attending church and are missing the importance of building authentic relationships with their brothers and sisters in Christ! Body Life Ministries is committed to challenging the body of Christ to rediscover, through Scripture, what church life can be. Church is not a place. Church is not an event. Church is who we are and how we relate to one another and to God. We are the church!

We are indeed fortunate to have so much information in the New Testament about the first disciples of Jesus. For us, reading about them in the Book of Acts absolutely convicted our hearts and stirred in us a profound desire to experience the same things. We were tired of playing church!

When Jesus was asked which commandment was the greatest, He replied, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself” (Luke 20:27 kjv). It is clear that Christianity is all about relationships!

In our journey, we came to a place where we wanted a clearer definition of what our relationships should be like within the body of Christ. In the spirit of a treasure hunt we turned to God’s Word.

You might say this treasure hunt consumed us. We have been so thoroughly persuaded by the Word of God and our Jesus that we felt compelled to write what He has shown us in this book. If the body of Christ will read what we have written and apply these truths in their lives, then this vision for rediscovering the Book of Acts church will bring about a profound change in the way we define 'church'. Simply attending church won’t be enough anymore. We will want to be the church and to participate in 'body life'!


We are depending on the Holy Spirit to speak to your heart. In this book we do not attempt to persuade you with a lot of words. Instead, our prayer is that those who read it will receive through our efforts a fresh understanding of God’s heart for His bride, from the Word.

Our goal is to plant a seed in your heart to cultivate the desire in your life and in the lives of other believers to rediscover the Book of Acts church. Each chapter is short enough to easily incorporate into a weekly discussion group. We encourge you to read one chapter at a time, stopping to meditate and pray about the Scriptures that are included in each chapter.

We know that nothing we’ve shared can possibly influence your life more than the Word of God. If your heart agrees with the vision, we hope that you will personally search out the Scriptures to confirm and expand upon what is written. We trust that as you apply these truths in your heart, they will flow from your life as a natural example to those around you.
